The wonderful hour-glass figure of playmate Kaya Christian from the November 1967 cover is redolent of a work by Man Ray. Simon Claridge's interpretation removes the original text promising editorials about 'sex and psychedelics' and a feature of yachting for the super-rich

Claridge's interpretation of the July 1973 cover, featuring Playboy Bunny Karen Christy's voluptuous chest, includes a similar sparkle - this time dusted over her unzipped dress

A cover from March 1975 features Eva Maria - with the original promising 'a torrid nine-page pictorial'. The model rips off a section of the cover - and with it her clothing - in the cheeky image. However in Claridge's version her bare flesh is adorned with diamonds

Another memorable cover, the 20th anniversary edition from January 1974, features the iconic rabbit symbol. This time the woman's hand which reaches out to adjust the bunny's bow tie is similarly embellished

Claridge's black and white version of Lenna Sjooblom's April 1973 Playboy cover. It features a close up of the model provocatively licking a postage stamp

The most modern of Claridge's Playboy covers is this August 1982 picture of a milkshake slurping bunny. The original describes itself as a 'summer sex issue' and promises 'gadgets, games and girls'. However in Claridge's version both the cup and her novelty sunglasses are given the diamond dust treatment

Claridge made his name by taking little-known images of Hollywood icon Monroe from the Twentieth Century Fox Studios archives - a collection of outtakes and test shots - and giving them the 'diamond dust' treatment

Artist Simon Claridge said: 'Playboy, to me, represents so many firsts… It's progressive, revolutionary…I cannot emphasise enough the reach and scope of Playboy's influence'

The artist said of the film siren: 'Marilyn Monroe, my all-time favourite female icon, was the first ever Playboy cover girl; I feel a connection to her through the elegant and feminine styling of the images I have chosen'

The Edinburgh-born artist made his name producing sepia silkscreen portraits of Marilyn Monroe finished with 'diamond dust', pictured. Other subjects include Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Debbie Harry and Twiggy
