Colourful: A giant sunshine mural on the wall adds a splash of colour to this bedroom used by prison inmates during conjugal visits

Like a hotel: With a tv, fresh towels and clean bed linen, this room would not look out of place on a B & B website

His and hers: Slippers can be seen under these single beds which look like they have been pushed together

Safety first: Prisoners and their spouses are even provided with contraceptives at one of the prison's pictured

Home from home: Prisoners could almost forget they are locked up while enjoying the homely room in this prison

Matching spreads: Inmates are allowed a two-hour private visit every three months at prisons in Romania after laws were relaxed

Relaxed rules: The prison system went through a revamp in 2007 which includes letting inmates have intimate visits from their partners in rooms like this

Locked up: While the bedrooms look like they could be in someone's house, the locks on the doors are a reminder it is prison

Exotic scenes: Prisoners can pretend to be in far away places in this room for conjugal visits which features a large picture of a beach and the sea

Romantic: The heart-shaped headboard leaves little to the imagination in terms of what people get up to during the two-hour slots

Room with ensuite: Visitors to this room have all their needs catered for with an adjourning ensuite ensuring they are not caught out during the two-hour stays

Homely: The decoration might not be to everyone's taste but the pictures on the yellow-painted walls help give this room a more homely feel

Unpretentious: The peeling wallpaper and questionable brick feature give this conjugal visiting room a feeling of stepping back in time

Bright: Nobody looking at these pink walls would expect this room to be found on the inside of a prison

Neat: It's hardly glamorous but still doesn't look like the inside of a prison with it's colourful bedspread and pictures on the walls

Simple: Two single beds with matching pillow covers and blankets provides a functional room for conjugal visits

Sizable storage: The wardrobes are a nice touch but probably unnecessary unless used for the 48-hour 'honeymoon' permitted for newlyweds

Unpleasant: Photographer Cosmin Bumbut found the standards varied across the 35 penitentiaries he visited to picture

Plush: The crisp white bedding and fresh flowers in the corner make this one of the more attractive rooms inside a Romanian jail
